| Children and youth participating in
Friendly Visiting programs experience the aging process through
an in-class “sensitivity to aging” session before they
visit their senior partners. Getting to know you activities and
ice breakers help to make the first visit a positive experience
for both the children and seniors. |

| High school students |
| Community Service opportunities
are explored through Community Service Volunteer Fairs where students
visit displays from community agencies and organization. Students
are provided with an orientation and training session, specific
to their volunteer positions. |

| Intergenerational
Internet Coaches can visit our Seniors
in Cyberspace program for on-line training. Volunteers will
be placed within long-term care facilities where they will receive
orientation and ongoing support. |

| College / university students |
| College/University Students
studying activation, gerontology, social service work, community
development and administration are offered field placements at Toronto
Intergenerational Partnerships, with training and supervision provided.

| Adult and Senior Volunteers
are provided with training on the “Realities” of Volunteering
within the Toronto District School Board and “Strategies for
Reading Partners”. |
| Gardening training
is provided on-site. Also, our program partners provide on-site
training specific to the volunteer role within their organization. |
| TIGP is an equal opportunity

at initial training sessions and within our Volunteer Guidelines
manual. |
