| Leaves need raking? Snow season approaching?
Need your grass cut? Or do you just want help around your home? |
| The Seniors Assistance Home Maintenance
(SAHM) program provides assistance to seniors as well as disabled
individuals who need work done in and around their homes and apartments. |
| TIGP acts as a broker
recruiting high school students to work before and after school,
on weekends and during the summer to assist with services including
gardening, shopping, snow removal and running errands. These services
enable individuals to live independently in their own communities. |
| Our staff screen and match the students
with individuals requiring service. The students are provided with
sensitivity to aging training. TIGP acts as a broker and coordinates
the program. An hourly rate is paid directly to the students upon
completion of their duties. |
| Program experience to
date has shown that in many cases the person requesting the services
uses the same student on a regular basis. These ongoing relationships
can lead to personal friendships between those involved. |
| We anticipate an increased
demand for these services as a result of: |
|
a continuation of the “aging in place” concept and practices
the increased demands on the "sandwich generation"
funding cutbacks of essential services
|
| The SAHM program provides
services that are not offered through traditional home care and
other long-term care programs which focus on personal and professional
care. |
