More than100 seniors, students, community volunteers and agency staff supported the development of perennial gardens and a herb garden for community seniors at Greenwood Towers (Toronto Community Housing) in the spring of 2001. Students from Danforth Collegiate spearheaded a grant application for United Way funding to purchase trees, shrubs and plants, and coordinated a community planting event. The seniors volunteer to maintain the gardens with the support of the neighbouring high school students.
