View our on-line training for volunteers!

During the two year implementation of the Seniors in Cyberspace program, long-term care staff and volunteers were provided with in-service training on effective strategies for teaching and coaching frail seniors on the use of computers and the internet.

This opportunity enabled both staff and volunteers to feel confident in their quest to introduce new technology to seniors. Staff considered “how to introduce the computer to seniors” and “practical ways to develop the program”. Volunteers learned “how important it is to understand that the senior is the one who controls the interactions during the session” and “how to make the senior comfortable when they are using computers.”

The orientation and training resources provided during in-service training are being shared on this site to allow long-term care staff and volunteers the opportunity for on-line training.
